In many low-income Kenyan girls’ schools, access to nutritious meals remains a challenge. Traditional diets often rely on expensive or less sustainable food sources. This limits the nutritional value of school meals. To address this, we launched the Plant-Based Foods Culinary & Vegan Awareness Boot Camp Program that was designed to educate school chefs and students on affordable, nutritious, and locally sourced plant-based meals.
WHAT THIS PROGRAM OFFERS
This immersive training program focuses on two key areas:
Plant-Based Culinary Training – School chefs and kitchen staff will learn innovative techniques to prepare delicious, nutrient-rich plant-based meals using locally available ingredients such as legumes, grains and vegetables.
Vegan Awareness & Nutrition Education – Students and school staff will be introduced to the benefits of plant-based diets, including improved health, sustainability and affordability.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Affordable & Sustainable Nutrition – Plant-based meals reduce reliance on expensive animal products, making school feeding programs more cost-effective.
Healthier School Meals – A diet rich in plant-based foods enhances students' overall health, boosting energy levels, concentration and immunity.
Empowering Girls & School Chefs – By equipping schools with knowledge and practical skills, we empower and school chefs to create more diverse, healthy meal options.
A MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE
This initiative was more than a training program—it’s a food revolution in kenya
